About the Portfolio Finance team

The Portfolio Finance team sits within the Adams Street Private Equity Operations team. The team focuses on deal funding, liquidity, and financing across Adams Street’s Private Equity and Private Credit investment strategies. Portfolio Finance manages day to day cash optimization, credit facilities, NAV facilities, and long-term forecasting with a focus on risk management and the performance of our funds.

The Portfolio Finance Associate will work directly with investment professionals, accounting, operations, legal, investor relations, and external parties to ensure private equity and credit deals are properly handled from funding to exit. The associate will work directly with other members of the Portfolio Finance team to handle all daily operational functions.

Responsibilities:

Specifically, the individual will be involved with and responsible for:

  • Promoting best practice across Portfolio Finance processes, learning intricacies of investment strategies (primary, secondary, co-investments, growth equity, venture and private credit)
  • Monitoring daily liquidity for funding, shortfall risk, and cash movements across our fund portfolios
  • Assisting in the analysis and production of cash forecasts, leverage monitoring, capital calls, and distributions
  • Supporting subscription line and credit facility activity and the processing of drawdowns, paydowns, interest calculations and payments
  • Supporting the covenant and compliance monitoring, and coordinating with lenders
  • Actively participating in the deal closing process with a focus on setup and execution of closing wire transfers
  • Compiling regular and ad-hoc reporting for investment teams, clients, and management
  • Creating efficiency between front and back-office processes, eliminating redundancies, and streamlining processes
  • Coordinating with operations, treasury, and accounting to resolve cash breaks, timing differences, and reporting discrepancies
  • Becoming an internal expert on end-to-end operational process and a valuable resource to the firm
  • Providing support for FX hedging, conversion, and settlement processes across PE and PC portfolios

Candidate Requirements:

We seek an individual who is self-disciplined, demonstrates creative thinking and has the following characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • 2-4 years of experience in Financial Services with a preference for experience in fund finance or treasury
  • Experience with private equity or private credit asset classes
  • Advanced Excel skills for fund and liquidity analysis (cash flow modeling, scenario and sensitivity analysis, pivots, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS) with comfort manipulating large datasets; Power Query and/or VBA a plus
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve efficiency and quality, with sound judgment regarding appropriate and confidential data use
  • Detail-oriented self-starter
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic, honesty and integrity, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
