Director of Business Development
Sales & Business Development · Full-time
New York, NY, USA
About Us
ASG is a New York–headquartered, SEC-registered investment firm with over $1.8 billion in assets under management. The firm invests in global innovation across public and private markets, applying institutional-grade rigor, disciplined underwriting, and proprietary data intelligence to identify and invest in category-defining companies.
About The Role
ASG is seeking a Business Development Director to serve as a senior individual contributor driving the firm’s institutional capital formation across the United States and, opportunistically, Europe. This is a high-impact, relationship-driven role for a seasoned fundraising professional with a deep institutional network and a proven track record of raising capital across market cycles.
The Director will own senior LP relationships, lead high-level fundraising conversations, and directly contribute to capital commitments across ASG’s flagship funds, co-investment vehicles, and new products. This role is designed for a professional who thrives as a producer, who brings established relationships, credibility, and the ability to translate ASG’s investment strategy into institutional capital. While the role is initially structured as an individual contributor, there is opportunity over time to build and lead a business development team as the platform scales.
Key Responsibilities
1. Institutional Capital Formation (U.S. Primary, Europe Opportunistic)
- Drive fundraising across ASG’s products, including Fund IV, co-investment vehicles, SPVs, and future institutional offerings
- Build and deepen senior-level relationships with U.S. institutional allocators, such as pensions, endowments, foundations, insurers, OCIOs, investment consultants, RIAs, and sophisticated family offices
- Selectively engage European institutional investors and gatekeepers where relationships and opportunities align with firm priorities
- Convert existing relationships into capital commitments and expand ASG’s institutional LP base over time
2. Senior LP Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted, long-term partner to institutional LPs across fundraising cycles
- Lead strategy discussions, diligence meetings, and allocation negotiations with senior LP stakeholders
- Coordinate LP onboarding, diligence workflows, and long-term relationship maintenance in partnership with legal, finance, and operations
- Cultivate re-up commitments and expand wallet share within existing institutional relationships
3. Product Positioning & Institutional Narrative
- Shape institutional-facing materials, pitch decks, DDQs, and LP communications to meet the expectations of sophisticated allocators
- Translate ASG’s investment philosophy, track record, and governance framework into clear, differentiated institutional narratives
- Provide direct feedback to investment and strategy teams on LP questions, diligence themes, and market positioning
- Contribute LP insight to inform the design and positioning of new products and structures
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & External Representation
- Partner with Investment, Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure institutional fundraising readiness
- Represent ASG at select U.S. institutional conferences, allocator roundtables, and closed-door LP forums
- Build relationships with consultants, advisors, and other influencers shaping institutional capital flows
- Strengthen ASG’s visibility and credibility within the U.S. and European institutional ecosystems
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in business development, institutional fundraising, investor relations, or capital markets, with meaningful time spent raising capital from U.S. institutional allocators
- Proven, attributable track record of raising institutional capital for private funds, alternatives, or other complex investment strategies
- Deep, active relationships with U.S. institutional allocators, including pensions, endowments, foundations, insurers, OCIOs, and consultants
- Strong command of LP diligence processes, governance expectations, and institutional investment decision frameworks
- Ability to operate independently and effectively as a senior individual contributor while collaborating closely with the CEO and senior leadership
- Exceptional communication, positioning, and relationship-building skills with senior institutional stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced credential preferred
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Nice to Have
- Established relationships and prior fundraising experience with European institutional investors and gatekeepers
- Experience raising capital for global innovation, technology, or AI-focused investment strategies
- Familiarity with CRM tools and institutional LP reporting workflows
