About this role:

Alumni Ventures is looking for a full-time Senior Associate to join one of our investment teams. This position is part of a team that manages Waterman Ventures and 116 Street Ventures, as well as helps with International Initiatives.

The position primarily focuses on sourcing investment opportunities, managing investment processes, and overseeing portfolio management tasks. Alumni Ventures is a multi-sector investor with a preference for Seed and Series A/B opportunities. This role is designed for a generalist investment athlete.

This individual will also assist in researching and evaluating potential investment strategies, as well as managing relationships with portfolio companies and fellow venture investors. Alumni Ventures operates exclusively as a co-investor, investing alongside well-established venture funds. The successful candidate will source high-quality investments for our funds and have significant input in creating annual portfolios of approximately 20 to 30 venture investments per fund.

This position will be based out of New York and is a hybrid role, with an expectation that this individual will work in the office at least 4 days per week. Alumni Ventures is a fast-paced, professional, entrepreneurial environment.

What you will do:

  • Identify and research potential investment strategies and develop and maintain the pipeline of investment opportunities within those themes.
  • Conduct outreach to VCs, entrepreneurs, incubators, and more to help fill our deal pipeline with prospects. The ability to source relevant investment opportunities will be critical.
  • Vet potential deal opportunities that align with AV’s investment mandate, including interviewing company teams, competitors, customers, etc.
  • Present companies and work closely and collaboratively with the Managing Partner and other teams within AV.
  • Educate deal sources and companies/entrepreneurs about AV and our investment process, and effectively manage relationships in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Develop investment memos and execute the investment process
  • Assist in the monitoring of existing investments and support existing founders in the portfolio across a variety of efforts
  • Maintain fund performance metrics in close collaboration with AV back office / finance support
  • Develop and maintain proprietary deal and market intelligence
  • Contribute positively to AV's culture

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or Computer Science; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience in consulting, banking, private equity, and/ or a startup
  • Demonstrated experience working with AI tools or platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Gemini, etc.)
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate AI tools to enhance team workflows or decision-making
  • Brown or Columbia Degrees preferred but not required
  • Experience working with International markets preferred

Salary: $150,000 plus bonus, carry, and equity
