POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Business Performance Planning and Insights, the Director, Business Insights and Analytics is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing a forward-thinking data and analytics vision across all lines of business under the COO (Financing, Wholesale, GTC, and Advisory).

This role is pivotal in driving enterprise performance and productivity by leading a multidisciplinary team that transforms complex data into actionable intelligence.

With a strong foundation in business diagnostics, the Director proactively identifies operational performance drivers, uncovers root causes of challenges, and anticipates emerging trends that impact business outcomes. As a trusted advisor to the COO leadership team, the Director combines deep analytical expertise with strategic foresight and compelling storytelling to translate data into clear, evidence-based recommendations. These insights inform executive decision-making, optimize operations, and unlock new growth opportunities.

This role is instrumental in embedding a culture of data-driven decision-making across the COO, ensuring that insights are not only understood but acted upon to deliver measurable impact.


CHALLENGES TO BE MET


Analytics Strategy & Business Insights

  • Drive the generation of high-impact actionable insights based on a deep understanding of the business and make recommendations to enable business leaders to maintain market competitiveness.

  • Conduct comprehensive business diagnostics to identify underlying issues and improvement opportunities.

  • Analyze data and trends to anticipate future challenges and emerging patterns. Develop actionable insights and strategic recommendations that enable business leaders to make informed decisions, drive performance, and achieve long-term objectives.

  • Leverage strong executive presence and storytelling skills to present analytical findings and strategic recommendations to the COO Leadership Team and other key stakeholders in a simple, clear, and compelling manner—playing an influential role in enabling effective implementation of solutions and ongoing follow-up based on KPIs.

  • Enable your team to produce advanced analytics of operational, customer, and financial data through techniques such as predictive modeling, segmentation, and performance optimization of operational, customer, and financial data.

  • Provide strategic leadership through the definition, evolution and delivery of our advanced analytics vision and strategy, in support of our short-term and long-term business objectives.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in analytics, AI, and data visualization to continuously evolve the team’s capabilities and tools. Keeping in mind the needs of stakeholders and the creation of user-friendly dashboards.

  • Identify, prioritize, and operationalize AI‑ and advanced analytics use cases that enhance the team’s analytical productivity, insight generation, and speed to decision, including automation of recurring analyses, advanced forecasting, and scalable insight delivery.

  • Partner with business leaders to shape and support AI‑enabled use cases that address strategic and operational questions, translating complex analyses into clear, actionable insights that drive measurable business impact and informed decision‑making.

  • Oversee the development of Power BI solutions, including advanced DAX modelling, semantic layer design, and performance optimization to support scalable, self-service analytics.

Data Management & Governance

  • Act as the pivotal point of contact between the IT and COO functions acting on behalf of COO operations with the organizational Hub & Spoke model

  • Enable active data stewardship through: Data Traceability, Data Risk Management, Metadata Management, Data Quality, Compliance and Master Data Management

  • Ensure the design, quality, and usability of datasets under the COO’s responsibility, and collaborate with the enterprise data hub to integrate these into enterprise-wide datasets.

  • Partner with IT, Enterprise Data Architecture, and Business Process teams to ensure that new data sources, system changes, and platform enhancements support operational and strategic needs.

Stakeholder Engagement & Prioritization

  • Implement and oversee project management framework ensuring the proactive scoping and prioritization of incoming requests in collaboration with COO Senior Leadership.

  • Cultivate strong advisory relationships within the COO leadership and across the organization with key strategic partners, ensuring robust and enduring relationships to establish operational alignment.

  • Foster a culture of transparent and courageous communication with stakeholders to ensure the proactive scoping and prioritization of requests to meet business needs in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Promote the use of data and analytics within COO teams to improve client experience, operational efficiency, and risk management. Collaborate with AAAI team, as a data SME.

  • Support the upscaling of the COO function to develop data and analytical literacy and embed strong analytical capacity in business function to enhance autonomy and increase efficiency

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, MBA, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in business insights, data analytics, business intelligence, analytical consulting or data strategy, including 5+ years in a leadership role.

  • Proven ability to deliver advanced analytics solutions that drive measurable business impact.

  • Skillfully manages and engages executive-level audiences by presenting complex analytical insights in a clear, concise, and compelling manner, leveraging influence and strategic communication to drive understanding and alignment. Expertise in Power BI (DAX modeling, dataset design, and self-service governance) and strong technical foundation in SQL, Python, Azure, and modern data platforms.

  • Demonstrated strength in insight development, executive storytelling, and coaching teams to deliver clear, strategic narratives.

  • Experience in forecasting and modeling future business scenarios.

  • Deep understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lifecycle practices.

  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills in both French and English.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a high sense of ownership.

  • Ability to distill complex concepts into simple, actionable insights.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving change in fast-paced, matrixed environments.

  • Strong client orientation and relationship management skills.

  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable processes and standards.

  • Excellent prioritization, organization, and strategic planning capabilities.
