Position Overview
Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) is seeking a Senior Manager to establish, build, and lead our business development (BD) function across key BVP roadmaps-including, Fintech, Healthcare, and Data & Infrastructure. This generalist role will focus on making meaningful customer introductions, creating strategic partnerships, and cultivating ecosystem engagement for BVP’s diverse portfolio by leveraging operational experience and senior-level relationships across multiple industries. As a key member of BVP’s expanding Platform team, you’ll have access to our full suite of resources while building scalable BD capabilities that deliver measurable value to our portfolio companies and strengthen BVP’s position across sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Market Intelligence
- Develop and execute BVP’s cross-sector BD strategy, integrating with broader platform and community initiatives.
- Lead strategic conversations with BVP leadership and investment teams to identify high-impact BD opportunities across multiple verticals.
- Create and maintain dynamic market intelligence, including competitive landscape analysis and relationship mapping of key decision-makers in target industries.
- Gather structured feedback from portfolio companies to continuously refine BD approach and priorities.
Relationship Building & BD Execution
- Build and cultivate strategic relationships with senior decision-makers at leading companies across BVP’s core sectors (e.g., financial services, healthcare, data infrastructure, enterprise software).
- Establish net-new senior executive relationships outside BVP’s current network within the first 12 months.
- Facilitate high-quality customer introductions, design partnerships, and pilot programs between portfolio companies and industry incumbents.
- Deliver outcome-driven customer introductions annually that generate measurable pipeline or revenue impact.
Portfolio Support & Advisory Development
- Proactively identify and broker commercial opportunities for portfolio companies across BVP’s key roadmaps.
- Establish strategic advisory relationships and build a comprehensive cross-sector advisory network leveraging BVP’s proven advisory board model.
- Provide direct, measurable impact to portfolio companies within 12 months, with clear relationship-building progress within 6 months.
Ecosystem Engagement & Events
- Organize and lead sector-agnostic events, roundtables, and briefings in collaboration with the Platform Community team.
- Launch high-impact events annually with structured follow-up and impact tracking.
- Maximize synergies with BVP’s broader community strategy through close collaboration with the VP of Community.
Ongoing Performance Indicators
- Direct revenue attribution from BD-facilitated opportunities.
- Pipeline generation volume and conversion rates.
- Network expansion quality and engagement metrics.
- Advisory board participation and strategic outcomes.
- Portfolio company growth acceleration in targeted segments.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- 7–9 years of operational experience in BD in venture capital, partnerships, or go-to-market roles at leading companies in at least two of BVP’s core sectors (e.g., Fintech, Healthcare, Data/Infrastructure, Enterprise SaaS).
- Proven track record of building and leveraging senior relationships with key industry players.
- Experience adapting to both startup and large enterprise environments.
- Deep understanding of at least two major industry landscapes, including buyer segments, regulatory environment, and go-to-market dynamics.
- Demonstrated success in tracking, measuring, and clearly communicating business development outcomes, including setting KPIs, reporting on results, and using data to inform strategy.
- Ideally, relevant experience in managing and running events

Compensation & Practical Details
- Variable compensation based on performance.

- Location: New York or San Francisco; 3 days required to be in-office.
- Travel: Expect 25–30% travel for relationship building, industry events, and portfolio company support.
- Reporting: Direct report to BVP’s VP, Community Platform as part of the new BD team buildout.
