Deep Science Ventures is a venture creator which has built over 55 companies, now collectively worth £500 million, and has raised over £200 million from Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lower Carbon Capital, Sequoia’s scout fund, Sam Altman, and Patrick Collison, to solve problems like childhood cancer, produce the world’s most efficient pressurized hydrogen, halve the cost of desalination, and deploy fungi to reforest the world. In each case, the product was invented rather than discovered, taking an engineering approach to science rather than licensing from academia. DSV is a global team of scientists and exited founders based in London, Tokyo, and Boston, from Bell Labs, Imperial College, and Intel. For 8 years, DSV has carried out venture creation in partnership with organizations like Coca-Cola, AbbVie, Anglo American, ARIA (UK's ARPA), and Cancer Research UK. DSV also runs a fully accredited PhD program, backed by SPRIND, Schmidt Futures, and Innovate UK.
