Job Summary

THE ROLE
We are looking for a Legal Associate to join our in-house Legal team and be dedicated to our technology and cybersecurity vertical. This is not a passive, process-following role. It is a hands-on, high-volume, commercially engaged position for someone who genuinely wants to be embedded in the business, understands the technology landscape, and can operate with real ownership over a broad and varied legal workload.
You will be the primary legal resource for the cybersecurity cluster, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts; advising business teams in real time; managing regulatory and compliance queries; and ensuring the legal function is never a bottleneck to the business. You will work closely with the Director Legal and Legal Counsel and will interface directly with business unit heads, finance, product, and external counsel where required.
This role demands someone who can work at pace, take initiative without waiting for instruction, and maintain quality and rigour even under pressure. We are not looking for a lawyer who practises law from behind a desk. We are looking for a legal professional who understands they are a business partner first.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commercial and Contracting
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including SaaS agreements, software licensing arrangements, reseller and distribution contracts, white-label and OEM agreements, partnership agreements, NDAs, MSAs, and vendor contracts
- Managing end-to-end contract lifecycle for the assigned vertical, from initial drafting through execution, variation, and renewal
- Developing and maintaining standard contract templates and playbooks to improve turnaround time and consistency across the business
- Advising business teams on contractual risk, obligations, and rights in a clear, practical, and commercially oriented manner
Regulatory, Privacy and Compliance
- Supporting the business on data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR, and other applicable privacy frameworks across key operating markets
- Monitoring regulatory developments relevant to the technology and cybersecurity sector and flagging material developments to the legal team and business leadership
- Assisting in the maintenance and periodic review of customer-facing legal documentation, including terms of service, privacy policies, acceptable use policies, and cookie notices, ensuring alignment with applicable law and business requirements
- Supporting any regulatory filings, correspondence, or liaison with regulatory bodies as required
Legal Operations and Governance
- Maintaining organised and up-to-date contract registers, legal trackers, and document repositories for the assigned vertical
- Coordinating with external counsel on specialist matters, managing instructions and correspondence, and ensuring cost-effective and timely use of external legal resources
- Contributing to the development and improvement of the Legal team's internal processes, systems, and documentation standards
- Supporting the broader Legal team on cross-vertical and ad hoc matters including corporate, employment, and intellectual property queries as they arise
Business Partnership
- Working directly with product, finance, commercial, and operations teams to provide timely and practical legal input on business decisions
- Participating in key business discussions and ensuring legal considerations are raised proactively, not reactively
- Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to position the Legal function as an enabler, not a gatekeeper
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications and Experience
- LL.B or equivalent legal qualification from a recognised institution; LL.M is an advantage
- 4 to 6 years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally in a technology, SaaS, digital, or multinational business environment, whether in-house or in private practice advising technology clients
- Strong commercial drafting skills with a demonstrable track record of independently handling contracts end-to-end
- Working knowledge of data privacy law and technology contracting; exposure to international legal frameworks is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, precise, professional, and clear
What Actually Matters to Us
Beyond the qualifications, the person we hire must possess certain traits that are non-negotiable for anyone joining this organisation:
- Ownership mindset. You take responsibility for your work fully. You don't wait to be chased, and you don't leave things half-done.
- Pace and adaptability. Our environment moves fast. You need to be able to manage a high volume of simultaneous workstreams without dropping the ball or losing rigour.
- Commercial instinct. You understand that the job is not to find reasons why something can't be done. It's to find the safest and smartest way it can be done.
- Proactive communication. You flag issues early, you update without being asked, and you know when to escalate and when to resolve.
- Intellectual curiosity. You take an interest in the business and the sector, not just the legal brief in front of you.
- Composure under pressure. The legal function here carries significant workload and operates with lean resourcing. You need to be able to handle that without it affecting your output or your professionalism.
