BUSINESS OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE
Stealth-stage startup | NYC | Full-time
We're building infrastructure for a massive, overlooked industry — one that runs on paper, spreadsheets, and outdated software while moving hundreds of billions of dollars every year. We're a well-funded team, backed by top-tier VC's, moving fast, and just getting started.
We're not hiring a "business ops" person in the traditional sense. We're hiring someone who wants to build a company from the inside — someone who'd rather learn by doing than by watching, and who's more excited by ambiguity than intimidated by it.
What You'll Actually Do
There's no fixed job description here, because the job changes every few weeks as the company does. In practice, you'll:
- Work directly with the CEO on whatever the highest-priority problem is that week — could be diligence on a partnership, a pricing analysis, a hiring push, or building the process for something that doesn't have a process yet
- Get out of the building. A meaningful chunk of your time will be spent with partners, customers, and vendors — not behind a desk
- Own relationships with external partners: chase them down, keep them warm, get them what they need, hold them accountable to what they promised
- Build the scrappy, unglamorous infrastructure every early company needs — from ops workflows to research to reporting — often with nothing but a spreadsheet and your own judgment
- Jump into whatever's on fire. Some weeks that's recruiting, some weeks that's an operational fire drill, some weeks it's a deck for investors
Who You Are
- 1-2 years of work experience, ideally at another startup where you had to figure things out with no playbook
- Entrepreneurial by nature — you've started something, sold something, run something, or just can't help but take ownership of things nobody asked you to
- Scrappy and resourceful. You solve problems with the tools you have, not the tools you wish you had
- Hungry. You want to be underestimated on paper and overdeliver in person
- Comfortable with ambiguity and allergic to hand-holding — you'd rather ask forgiveness than ask permission for a to-do list
- Genuinely fine doing "whatever it takes" — no task is too small if it moves the company forward, and no task is too big if you're the only one in the room
- Based in or willing to relocate to NYC, and willing to be in-person and on the ground, not remote
Why This Role
You'll sit closer to the center of the company than almost anyone else on the team. You'll see how a startup actually gets built — fundraising, partnerships, hiring, GTM, all of it — because you'll be in the room for most of it. If you're the kind of person who wants to run something of your own someday, this is the fastest possible education, with real equity upside for the risk you're taking today.
If you're looking for a defined lane, a training program, or a nine-to-five, this isn't it. If you're looking for the best seat in the house at a company that's about to move very fast, apply.
This role is with a stealth-stage, venture-backed startup based in New York City. Company details will be shared with candidates who advance in the process.
