JOB DESCRIPTION

Interplay is looking for an Operating Partner to work within our Studio. Interplay is an ecosystem where ideas scale. On the studio side, we operate a studio, an incubator, and service companies. On the capital side, we operate a multi-family office, a venture fund, and we make secondary investments.

Our Studio focuses on building companies from scratch. The right person for this role has built a company and sold it, is passionate about the 0-1 space and is ready to be part of creating a handful of high quality companies per year. As an operating partner in the studio you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with our team to conduct thorough due diligence, assist in CEO hiring and provide ongoing support to ensure the success of the studio portfolio companies.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Conduct thorough due diligence, including market research and competitive analysis, to assess business viability.

  • Recruit and hire leadership teams, including CEOs, to drive new ventures forward.

  • Provide strategic guidance and ongoing operational support to portfolio companies.

  • Leverage Interplay’s ecosystem, including capital, services, and resources, to accelerate company growth.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build high-potential businesses.

  • Drive the creation of scalable, venture-backable companies with the potential to become industry leaders.

WHO YOU ARE

  • A self starter and motivated to learn.

  • A problem solver and someone who’s not afraid to get their hands dirty.

  • A swiss army knife who can handle a multitude of different responsibilities.

  • You are organized.

  • You have experience managing timelines and are able to organize information into plans.

  • You have a creative mindset and can generate innovative ideas for events and marketing campaigns, always staying ahead of industry trends.

  • You are a proactive problem solver, capable of identifying potential issues and providing timely solutions.

  • You are a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and building strong relationships.

  • You are highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and professionalism.

  • You are tech-savvy and comfortable working with various software and tools related to marketing, event planning, content creation, and data management.

  • A person who gets things done, finds a way around walls and pursues excellence.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proven experience as a founder, with a successful company exit.

  • Deep passion for the 0-1 startup phase and company-building.

  • Strong ability to identify and evaluate new market opportunities.

  • Track record of hiring and mentoring executive leadership.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong network within the startup and investment ecosystem.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Have a great attitude and are willing to get their hands dirty.

  • Are willing to run through brick walls without a helmet.

  • Love building, problem-solving, and winning.

  • Have relevant work experience, including having been a startup founder.

  • Have an undergraduate degree from a top university with a strong academic background in finance or another quantitative major and relevant internship experience. An MBA/CFA is nice to have.

  • Are hyper-organized.

  • Have the ability to work well in an unstructured environment.

  • VC experience is not necessary, but it's preferred.
