About Us: Mairs & Power is a nearly 100-year-old investment firm with over $10 billion in assets under management. Mairs & Power Venture Capital (MPVC) was launched in 2021 as a division within Mairs & Power to invest in private companies in the Upper Midwest. MPVC manages over $50 million in assets and has made 16 portfolio investments since 2022. We invest in tech and tech-enabled companies at the Seed and Series A stage located in the Upper Midwest that have achieved revenue traction. We typically invest in companies that are transforming markets and industries where the founding team has deep expertise in the market or industry they are serving.
About the Role: The VC Fund Operations Associate will be an integral member of the Venture Capital team responsible for overseeing the operational and financial functions of MPVC’s venture capital funds. This operations position will work closely with the VC investment team which includes two General Partners and our VC Investment Associate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead investor financial reporting to LPs of the fund including quarterly and annual reporting.
- Coordinate valuation analysis and documentation for quarterly reporting and the annual audit process.
- Maintain updated performance information on all portfolio companies to assist with reporting to investors and fundraising.
- Manage investment document management including working with third party custodian to hold securities documents.
- Manage due diligence of portfolio companies and support the financial analysis behind portfolio investments.
- Lead efforts to automate information collection from portfolio companies (current tools: Copilot, Visible.vc, Affinity, AUMNI, Pitchbook).
- Create and maintain helpful templates and benchmarking reports to support portfolio companies.
- Support portfolio companies where needed in the creation and review of capitalization tables and financial statements.
- Coordinate creation of materials for special events including the Annual Meeting of investors as well as periodic educational seminars.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and special projects as directed by the General Partners.
Skills:
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting and finance principles.
- Demonstrated ability to review and maintain updated financial records.
- Experience using modern tools including AI tools to support automation and efficiency of information collection and record keeping.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, including written and verbal.
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability, flexibility, high accountability and detail orientation.
- Understanding of entrepreneurial finance investment process including term sheets, definitive legal documents, capitalization tables, and exit strategies.
- Proficiency with a variety of software packages including use of spreadsheets to create and manage financial models for companies and funds.
- Experience presenting financial information in consumable formats and presentations.
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field with a strong academic record.
- The successful candidate will likely have 2-5 years of work experience in fund management, public accounting, investment banking, or another relevant field.
- Experience and proclivity for working with or advising early-stage companies.

Your pay may include two components: base salary and variable pay. While base pay applies to all employees, variable pay is offered to employees as an annual target bonus range based on a range of factors that include, but not limited to, your position, your individual performance in the role, and firm profitability.
The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $90,000 - $120,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors. To ensure that our pay remains aligned with our desire to remain competitive, we benchmark pay and benefits with other companies that are comparable in size and scope.
