Reporting to the Senior Manager, Performance, Reporting & Attribution, we are looking for a highly motivated Senior Analyst to join our Capital Markets Finance team in Toronto, which is building a world-class, winning culture that prioritizes people development and focuses on long-term growth.
In this role, you will support the valuation, analysis, and reporting of OMERS Capital Markets’ private credit investments, including both direct private debt and externally managed assets such as SMAs, co-investments, and private credit funds. For direct debt, you will work closely with external valuation agents to prepare and review inputs, assumptions, and methodologies, while developing a strong understanding of credit agreements, capital structures, and valuation models. For externally managed assets, you will collaborate with external managers to analyze NAV movements, underlying security-level unrealized and realized gains/losses, and cash flows, and liaise with deal and investment teams to validate performance. The role also includes asset- and portfolio-level reporting and provides ongoing analytical support to both the Investment and Finance teams.
To support these responsibilities, the successful candidate must have a growth mindset, and strong interpersonal skills coupled with experience in financial reporting and analysis and financial modeling.
We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. Our flexible hybrid work guideline requires teams to come to the office a minimum of 4 days per week.
As a member of this team, you will:
- Own the end-to-end valuation process for OMERS Global Credit’s private credit portfolio, including quarterly fair value determinations, documentation, and delivery of final valuation outputs
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external valuation vendors, overseeing the preparation, review, and challenge of valuation models, inputs, and assumptions (including discounted cash flow and market-based approaches)
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all valuation inputs, including borrower financials, capital structure details, covenant terms, market data, and deal-specific assumptions
- Analyze and validate externally managed private credit investments (SMAs, co-investments, and private credit funds), including NAV movements, underlying security-level unrealized and realized gains/losses, and cash flows, working with external managers and liaising with deal and investment teams to ensure accurate portfolio-level reporting.
- Partner closely with Investment, Finance, and Risk teams to incorporate performance updates, portfolio developments, credit views, and forward-looking outlooks into valuation conclusions
- Identify, analyze, and articulate key value drivers and investment risks across portfolio companies, including changes in credit quality, macroeconomic conditions, and market dynamics
- Perform asset- and portfolio-level sensitivity analyses to assess valuation impacts from changes in assumptions such as discount rates, cash flows, leverage, and recovery scenarios
- Monitor relevant market events and industry trends and evaluate their potential implications for portfolio valuations
- Prepare and review valuation memos, management summaries, and supporting analysis and presentation materials for senior stakeholders, including the CFO, CIO, and Valuation Committee
- Support audit and governance processes by coordinating with external auditors and independent valuation firms and defending valuation methodologies and conclusions
- Assist with valuation-related financial reporting and disclosures, including fair value footnotes, as required
- Provide valuation insights and analytical support on existing investments to inform portfolio monitoring and investment decision-making
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement, best practices, and enhancement of valuation frameworks across the private credit platform
- Participate in ad-hoc analyses and special projects in support of the Finance, Investment, Risk, and broader corporate teams, as needed
To succeed in this role, you have:
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or other related discipline
- 2-3 years of relevant valuation experience
- Chartered Business Valuation (CBV) and other professional designations such as the CPA or CFA designation, or enrollment in either program of studies, would be a strong asset
- Strong understanding of fixed income, including direct private debt, private credit funds, co-investments, and other alternative strategies
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
- Prior working experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx) is an asset
- Highly motivated with a proven track record to deliver results and execute effectively on key initiatives
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present findings in a concise and professional manner
- Ability to perform under time pressure and respond to unexpected events or circumstances
- Strong team player able to operate in a fast-paced environment under time-sensitive deadlines
- Ability to build relationships and work with stakeholders across all levels of the organization
