The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis will join the Capital Markets Finance team providing financial support to OMERS >$50 billion Capital Markets investment business. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the incumbent will support in the preparation and analysis of information for the annual operating plan, quarterly re-forecasts, monthly and quarterly analysis of financial results, and providing general finance business partnership to the Capital Markets business unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Capital Markets Finance (CMF) team and senior management across OMERS Global Credit to provide financial advisory support, help teams achieve financial targets, identify risks & opportunities, and provide high quality performance measurement analysis
  • Prepare financial analysis including operational performance trends, variance analysis against operating plan and historical results, identify operational and strategic implications, and help to provide meaningful, actionable insights, advice, recommendations and key actions to business stakeholders
  • Support in the preparation of detailed (line-item level) and executive summary-level Annual Operating Plan outputs
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including a thorough review process to ensure financials are accurate and adhere to policy guidelines
  • Prepare a variety of management presentations and deliverables including budget to actual variance reports, trend analysis, KPI dashboards, etc.
  • Contribute to quarterly reporting activities including quarterly flashes, asset rolls, board memos and Investment Committee performance scorecards
  • Develop a deep understanding of key business drivers and effectively communicate to key stakeholders through other regular reporting and ad-hoc deliverables
  • Support CMF in the strategic build-out of the OMERS Enterprise Financial Planning System (Anaplan), including ongoing enhancements
  • Build an integrated view across balance sheet, performance and G&A to connect cost drivers and financial outcomes across OCM and CMF
  • Enhance process documentation and transparency, articulating key methodologies while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Strengthen cost driver analysis through dynamic expense monitoring, providing timely insight into cost trends and drivers across OCM and CMF
  • Modify existing and design new processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce frustration
  • Complete sensitive assignments at the direction of the VP, EVP, CFSO or Head of OCM Business within tight time frames
  • Contribute to culture-enhancing initiatives within the broader CMF team, including both social and educational elements
  • Develop strong relationships with Business Partners and Key Stakeholders across OMERS
  • Participate in ad hoc initiatives and special projects as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of related working experience in progressively responsible positions
  • University degree plus an accounting designation (CPA, CA, or CMA)
  • Capital markets finance knowledge is an asset
  • Experience with Anaplan, Alteryx and/or Oracle finance systems is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trusting relationships
  • Strong analytical ability; able to clearly link financial results to strategic and operational activities
  • Ability to work with large data sets, glean insight, and present findings in a clear, simple, and concise manner
  • Expert level technical skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with numerous competing priorities and reporting deadlines
  • Self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Team player with a positive attitude, willingness to help colleagues and “go the extra mile”

The expected salary range for this position is $86,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year.
