Shadow Ventures is a seed stage venture capital firm focused on investing in technology startups creating digitization, automation, and decarbonization in the world's largest – yet least innovative asset class – the $300 trillion built environment. Launched in 2018, Shadow has made 23 early stage investments into the built environment market, deploying north of $20M in capital. Our management team has a deep background of building technology and companies in the built environment – founder KP Reddy is a sought after expert on construction and real estate technologies, having built and taken public companies in the space before literally writing the textbook on BIM (a now ubiquitous construction technology). The built environment has been historically underserved by venture capital, but we are at the precipice of exponential technology growth in these markets due to a number of crucial problems including shrinking margins, a growing labor shortage, and pressures (both economic and regulatory) to decarbonize. These problems can only be solved with technology.
