Position Overview

StepStone Group LP (StepStone) seeks a Sr. Associate, Real Estate Business Partnering for its La Jolla, CA location.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee data extraction solutions and automation activities to increase efficiency of data operations and document processing associated with the Real Estate asset class
  • Through global collaboration and utilization of StepStone's proprietary cloud-based performance reporting systems, provide meaningful insights for informed decision making to internal and external stakeholders
  • Define the process requirements for automation, clarify the inputs and expected outputs and create the necessary automation documentation
  • Design, develop and lead process automation initiatives that create scalability for processes. Gather requirements and prioritize different projects depending on deadlines and value added
  • Perform and execute data Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tasks and maintenance. Develop code while following Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) requirements to increase operational efficiency
  • Oversee a small team of analysts and review their output
  • Support talent development of junior team members
  • Work independently and be fully responsible for producing and communicating results to all stakeholders

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Must have a Master’s Degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics or a related field and 4 years of experience in the position offered or as a Data Analyst, Portfolio Analyst or a related position for a financial services firm that provides real estate investment advisory services;
  • Utilizing Python, Java and C++ to build scripts, perform data analytics, build automation business processes and graphic interfaces for applications; Utilizing MySQL to build data storage, manage databases and conduct data retrieval;
  • Utilizing machine learning algorithms to improve automation processes for customer engagement processes and business strategies;
  • Utilizing PDF to extract data from tables to convert data into structured output for data analysis, reporting and workflow automation;
  • Creating and implementing digital transformation process to ensure data integrity;
  • Utilizing Power BI, DAX and Power Query to build dashboards for reporting and analytics;
  • Managing small teams, including overseeing workflows, coordinating assignments and fostering collaboration across remote and distributed team members to achieve operational goals;
  • Building quantitative models and dashboards for portfolio reporting and analytics, including cash flow analysis, GAV/NAV movements and multi-period fund performance based on underlying portfolio investment valuations and operating metrics;
  • Designing automated data ingestion pipelines to process unstructured private-market data from custodians, fund administrators and GPs into structured internal databases to support portfolio management and client reporting
  • Two (2) years of required experience must include: Performing private real estate portfolio analytics, including automation and data extraction
  • Must hold a CFA Charter

Salary is $135,554.00/ year; 40 hrs/wk
